Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). The Scholarships Manager will support the scholarship team in offering financial aid assistance, emergency scholarships, and providing wrap-around support to our member school students. The Scholarships Manager will operate on the three tactical pillars; Scholarship Development, Scholarship Implementation, and Scholarship Reporting and Evaluation.

AVP of Scholarships and Senior Manager of Scholarships

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Scholarships AVP and Sr. Manager in day to day scholarship administrations.
    • Maintain production communication via email, phone and Google Hangout with the Scholarships, AVP, Sr. Manager, Managers, and Program Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of scholarship management platform.
    • Day-to-day scholarship administration- application through student tracking, student communication via Scholarship Management Platform.
    • Design and execute Scholarship monitoring to include evaluations, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, and identifying and discussing implications.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring and tracking of assigned scholarships through the scholarship process (Mid to Low Touch Point Scholarships).
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness for assigned scholarship disbursements.
  • Maintaining scholarships communications with students and partner schools.
  • Assist the Scholarships, AVP and Sr. Manager in reporting scholarship application data for the Annual and President’s Reports.
  • Collaboratively collecting, organizing, analyzing, and sharing Scholarship applicants and recipient data, and providing actionable reports.
    • Generate both quantitative and qualitative reports on outputs, outcomes, and impact on students.
  • Assists the Scholarships, AVP and Sr. Manager in maintaining the Scholarship Process and guidelines to ensure the accurate, timely, efficient and transparent process for the entire scholarships life cycle from proposal to close.
  • Create and develop an online training module for scholarship applicants.
  • Identify and implement improvements in job-related processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Special Demands

  • This is a full-time position Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EST.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job demands.
  • Travel required: 25% Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee data, business activities, key information, etc.
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in client management or operations role.
  • Advanced computer skills and technology experience, including with Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to think creatively and pragmatically to develop viable solutions for the scholarship team and our internal customers.
  • Ability to manage through technology systems and standard processes to address the demands of the team.
