Job Description

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Senior Manager of Brand Marketing gives voice to the TMCF brand through the development of meaningful cross-channel campaigns that highlight the mission, impact, and partnerships of the organization. The senior manager will build and sustain an annual marketing plan and production calendar that aligns with the foundational work and each year’s key initiatives. A successful senior manager must be highly strategic with strong business savvy ensuring that the marketing efforts meet the needs of all key stakeholders. An ideal candidate must be highly collaborative, creative, and a great storyteller with experience in social and digital platforms. Strong organizational skills, communication, project management, budgeting, and leading experience in creating and managing multi-channel marketing campaigns aligned with brand management principles are fundamental skills needed to be successful in this role.

Assistant Vice President of Brand Marketing

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual organizational marketing plan that:
    • Includes campaign windows and messaging that supports the key work streams of TMCF (scholarships, professional development, internships, individual donor, and capacity building).
    • Allows for partner spotlights as required by partnership contracts.
  • Strategically leverages various platforms and outlets to tell the story.
  • Collaborate with internal graphic design to develop necessary creative and messaging for all marketing efforts and for each channel and platform.
  • Communicate marketing plans to all internal customers to facilitate communication to external partners as required.
  • Attend partner meetings as needed to share annual marketing plans and assets.
  • Track and measure all relevant metrics to determine the effectiveness of each marketing effort and use outcomes to inform future campaigns
  • Manage content on the organization’s website and all other digital platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

  • This is a full-time position Monday through Friday.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: 25-30%

  • Occasionally domestic travel may be required. To accommodate this requirement, overnight stay may be expected.
    Required Competencies and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or other related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated marketing experience.
  • Experience managing online marketing strategies and campaigns using a variety of different software platforms and reporting tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to self-prioritize workload, manage budgets and meet deadlines
  • Ability to creatively approach challenges and projects and to work both independently and within a team effectively for the best possible outcome.
  • Creative thinker, self-starter and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thorough planning and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with developing results-oriented strategies for PPC, SEO and remarketing campaigns as well as non-targeted ad solutions for major platforms.
  • Basic understanding of Google Adwords, Google Analytics, and other analytics tools
  • Basic understanding of CMS and front-end use of cloud-based systems technologies (CMSs, e-commerce, e-mail campaigns, social media, etc.).
