Eligibility

Are students attending private HBCUs eligible for the Hennessy Fellows?
Yes. Graduate students enrolled full-time in the first year of their program or have at least 4 semesters remaining are eligible to apply.

Is a recent undergraduate eligible to participate in the program to receive funds for graduate school?
Yes. The Hennessy Fellows program is open to currently enrolled graduate students.

May I apply to the Hennessy Fellows program if I am an undergraduate senior who wants to attend graduate school?
No, this opportunity is not open to undergraduate students. You have to get into a program first before you are eligible to apply.

Are graduate students eligible to apply?
Yes. Currently enrolled graduate students who will not graduate before December 2019 are eligible to apply.

Is there an age requirement to apply for the program?
Yes, graduate students must be 21 and older to apply for the program.

Am I eligible to apply if my cumulative GPA is below 3.25 but my major GPA is 3.25 or above?
No. We require a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.

Are non-traditional students eligible to apply?
Yes, if you meet the eligibility requirements you can apply

Do you have to be African American to be considered for the Hennessy Fellows program?
No. Students must be enrolled in accredited HBCU Graduate programs in order to be considered for the program.

Programmatic

Will expenses for travel, lodging, and food be provided during the boot camp? 
Yes. Fellows will receive a stipend to cover all expenses for the boot camp.
